Violet Shirran
Visual Artist
A combination of screen printing and hand stitching, pieces invite the viewer to contemplate the significance of birds in our culture.
There is a dichotomy between the familiar presence of birds in our gardens and streets and the mysterious role they play in our legends, myths and folklore. Ominous, dark and portentous of death, birds are also the bringers of good luck, fine weather and a happy marriage!
These pieces were exhibited as part of Kilkenny Arts Week 2017
